The Bee Market in Veenendaal has been around since the 17th. The market is now held on the 3rd Tuesday in July. Veenendaal was conveniently located between the heathlands of the Veluwe and the fruit trees in the Betuwe. In the 19th century, sometimes more than 10,000 colonies were brought in. The market was therefore probably the largest in the world. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the number of beekeepers has declined sharply. The old photos give an excellent Impression of the bee market
