Avian influenza information Dutch Poultry Museum
The Hague, Thursday, June 11, 2026
Risk of avian flu has decreased: nationwide mandatory housing and screening requirements for poultry have been lifted.
The mandatory confinement and screening requirements for poultry are also being lifted in the Gelderse Vallei region. There is no longer a nationwide mandatory confinement and screening requirement. Chickens are allowed to roam freely. The ban on exhibiting high-risk birds is also being relaxed. These new measures will take effect on Thursday, June 11, 2026, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Nature.
For the Poultry Museum, this means that visitors can once again cuddle the chicks—something many visitors have been looking forward to. Please be careful and enjoy!
